Susan "almost wished" because she is the most responsible--the one who garners all the adult trust that things will go well if she is there. But not "definitely wished" because even 'though she is so responsible, she does want to be there, sharing the adventures they are all having.
John "of course" because he understands Nancy's need not to be limited, even if it means sneaking & omitting the truth sometimes.
