Well, it certainly did when my mother made her first Christmas Pudding using a recipe from the Countryman, and US measures. It was virtually impossible to get the spoon into the mix, much less stir it. Our (native Scot) doctor first explained, then helped her get, Imperial measures. Subsequent efforts with the proper measures made a significant difference!
