Interesting the different perceptions of galumphing. I always saw it as galloping the same way as a horse uses its front legs to gallop - the legs come together and then stretch out fore and aft for the stride - the weight going briefly on the hindmost leg but then shifting to the foremost which takes the weight the longest.
