Well I was thinking more of South Park myself!
Personally, I can't see any of us old fogies much caring for a re-make of S&A. As for today's youngsters how is it to be pitched to them? Timeless? But the stories are so anchored in daily life. Historical? How do you make that period come alive for children without excursions into all sorts of themes that don't really enter into the stories? I don't think 20s nostalgic period charm would do a lot for the target audience.
No, I say bring it up to date, move it to N America where there are more lakes and less people and have the central theme a group of children trying to re-create Swallows and Amazons on some New England pond, or Canadian lake.
