New Swallows and Amazons films could be great! And a cartoon version COULD be great; BUT if the cartoon version came out looking like the typical "loosly inspired North American" Saturday morning TV cartoons (and probably with a character named "Kitty") - UGH! Forgetaboutit! How about a "loosly inspired" comic book version - all twelve in one pulp "Classic Comic" book!? - or better yet, one comic book a month for a year! Complete with Swallows and Amazon Action Toys - transformers that turn into rocket ships and atomic blasters? (My grandson bought a set of railroad steam engine toys at the Sacramento Railroad Museum that did just that.)

ON the other hand, IF (and this is a BIG IF) done RIGHT with sensitivity to the stories, it could be a credit to the books and Mr. Ransome. I could almost see Mr. Ransome's drawings becoming animated - just the simple line drawings coming into action - all black and white with accents of color with a narrator to fill in the background. It could be done, but not in the general line of contemporary Saturday morning TV cartoons.
