Are we talking films or TV series? Hard to see what a new film would bring to the picnic. WDTGS would be a good stand alone, as would PM and the two 'fantasies' PD & ML but I'm not sure about SW or SD too episodic?
Personally, I'd go the whole hog and do a 21C North American cartoon version loosely 'inspired' by the series.
