It is interesting to see people's perspectives.

I came early to Peter Duck, it was my first Ransome and I didn't realise that it was more fantastical, and enjoy it as a result. On the other hand Missee Lee is not one of my favourites, partly because of the "Chinee" dialect and partly because it is even more obviously fantastical.

Swallowdale is probably my favourite because it was the one that we had around the house, the others were library books and had to be returned.
I never really took to the Broads books as they were outside most of my experience, however, Secret Water, probably because the steady completion of the map seemed so satisfying, was enjoyable.
WDMTGTS is an exciting adventure and I also like Great Northern? a lot.
PP and P&M lie somewhere in the middle of the range, better than the Broads but not as good as the other Lakes books.
