I think I might be speaking for others when I ask the natural question - how do you camp with cats? What stops them from legging it over the next hill? And how many does the plural suggest?

On the subject of canvas: I built a Medieval pavilion a few years ago, and was naturally concerned with the risks of lighting it with candles...so I tried burning otherwise untreated modern 16oz cotton canvas scraps with a bare flame. In my experience it would char for about thirty seconds when dry, until it caught fire.

For an accidently-knocked-over candle, there'd be plenty of time to snuff and remove any risk of a fire - it's really not Hindenburg territory. There clearly would be a risk if a tent was left lit and empty - but then Susan would never let that happen, would she?
