There's a programme coming up on Thursday 10th April called "Cotton Wool Kids". I was reading the Sunday Times TV Guide and this is what it says:
"According to this programme, 76% of parents believe there has been a recent increase in child murders; in reality, no such rise exists. This documentary examines some of the worries of particularly anxious parents and asks what their children lose from such all-encompassing protection. Siad, 13, is collected from the school gates every day, while nine-year-old Abby's mother investigates microchip technology that will enable her to track her child's every move. Swallows and Amazons seems a long way off."
Interesting (and very valid) that S&A is given as an example of the polar opposite of the "cotton-wool" attitude.
I wonder if poor Siad and Abby have ever heard of S&A?
