With Mavis, I think it is more a question of structural differences from Amazon (as drawn by AR) right from the outset. The late Pauline Marshall (who as a young girl was part of the 'Coniston set') was adamant that Mavis was not Amazon, so Mike Field is not alone here.
(As Mike Field doesn't read my posts, could someone else pass on to him that he is not alone in his view about Amazon?)
