I remember reading Hornblower stories in the 'Saturday Evening Post'. My parents had a subscription to it in the '40s and '50s. But my favourites were the stories of Tugboat Annie and Bullwinkle. They left me with a lifelong ambition to see the Puget Sound in winter storms... Unfulfilled, although I did manage to see it in autumn, at night. By daybreak, I was on a flight to Washington DC.
So nice not to have to do that stuff any more...
