Tastes differ. Having heard glowing reports of the Aubrey-Maturin books, I got one out of the library. Reading it, I kept waiting for the story to start. Eventually, about two-thirds of the way through, after some sort of fracas had taken place, I realised it had been meant to be a thrilling scene. But it wasn't. I find the writing very flat. So I have given up on them. And no, I don't remember which book it was.
The film, on the other hand, was excellent.
