I like the Miterdale option (look for Illgill Head on the south side of Wastwater, head southeast, and stop about a kilometre down the valley from the foot of Burnmoor Tarn.

As you walk upstream along the River Mite to get to this location, the sharp valley broadens quite suddenly into the perfect place for a camp. A waterfall tumbles into it. There's the tarn further up the valley, and Boat How makes for a reasonable Watchtower rock.

Whether or not this is the Swallowdale, it's the place I think I'd use to film it. ;-)
