my son, alas, finds books boring. What's a father to do?
You go with the flow. He's been (being) brought up in a decent environment, I assume, so he'll become a decent adult. And he'll choose his own way; they all do.
Liking books, as such, isn't important. It's comforting for the parents, but not crucial in itself. I have a nephew who as a child never read any books at all, although he did love sport. He went on to be a very high class sailor (crewing on the Whitbread twice, winning international sailing titles etc, and running a successful sail making business in Geneva) and has a delightful family, but as far as I know he still never cracks open a book unless it's about sailing or mountaineering. He's happy, though.
They make their own choices.
