When I edited the Autumn 2006 TARS Outlaw magazine for juniors, I got a Dutch friend of mine, Hans, (a Captain in the Dutch navy) to translate the first paragraph of WDMTGTS. He translated the title as
“Wij wilden niet naar zee”
which sounds a lot zappier, though I haven't had it translated back into English!
Being a proper Dutch gentleman, he also changed Titty's name to Tientje rather than the usual Tittje or Tittie. He explained that this was a good old-fashioned Dutch girls name.
