Searching around the Internet found an item on the Westmorland Gazette's Website regarding the Arthur Ransome Trust attempting to set up a '...permanent Arthur Ransome tourist attraction...' What was more interestng was the single comment the item had provoked
'I'm a fan of Arthur Ransome but, to be blunt, he wrote his best book first and suffered a long decline in quality after that. Some people say the same about Wordsworth, who also turned out some clunky lines. Isn't it better for a writer to be read and kept in print than for a tourist trap to be opened in his or her name? If you are a Ransome fan, why not just visit his and his wife's graves in Rusland churchyard?'
To me a curious comment from someone who claims to be a 'fan'.
