It seems to work for me OK; I just did test postings containing italics, both as a follow-up and as a new post, with no error.

Thanks Woll. I shall try sending this using a test post.

Earlier, when I was on holiday, I tried posting and got the identical 'impossible' error message, but gave up (after all, I was on holiday).

Now to try again. Here goes for a test post.

And it worked! So nice to be able to modify the original before it goes... Thank you very much for your help.
