I'm sorry, Peter, but I don't understand the distinction you make. Surely "reliving AR's life" might well involve "a bridge near Leeds where AR once stood", i.e. an investigation of facts, however obscure, which might lead to some new fragment of knowledge about AR or his whereabouts at a certain time (which I think is what Peter R is after). On the other hand the activities which you describe, e.g. Beckfoot plumbing, are merely Tarboard in-jokes which are meaningless to AR devotees and historians in general. As you point out, they provide harmless glee on Tarboard but they should not be likened to the current factual and possibly productive discussion about AR's East Coast activity.
