I recall from somewhere, perhaps either Rupert Hart-Davis' completion of the Autobiography or Christina Hardyment's book, that Mrs Ransome disliked this 1963 series intensely (I watched it at the time, and I disliked it too, because even as a child I could tell that it had been gratuitously "modernised") and she acted on her dislike by refusing permission for any further TV serialisations or films, so that none were made until after her death.
Can anyone confirm this (I'm in China - no books!)
