This ought to be a FAQ (hint, hint, Woll) - he's presumed to be dead.

'"Who is Bob Blackett?"

"He was Father", said Peggy.' in Swallowdale).

Also "Bob would have liked them just the way they are" from Capt. Flint to Mrs. Blackett, as overheard by Nancy & Peggy, also in Swallowdale.

I vaguely remember that Slater Bob made some reference to him in Pigeon Post, but I could very easily be wrong on that. Even if he did, it had no more information than the above passages.

Among the various theories which have been proposed here are that he died in the post-war Influenza epidemic, and that he and Capt. Flint were spies, and he disappeared in Russia during the Revolution. One variant of the latter has John Walker, serving on an escort vessel for one of the Murmansk convoys of WW II, discovering and rescuing him.
