In addition to catching my typo, I should have mentioned John MacGregor's series of books about sailing in various versions of his Rob Roy canoes, such as "A Thousand Miles in the Rob Roy Canoe". Plenty of great adventures there.
Joshua Slocum's "Sailing Alone Around the World" is also terrific.
