For the benefit of North American viewers (where the National Trust is a financial organisation) it should be explained that the UK NT is a NGO dedicated to the preservation of historic buildings and outstanding scenery. The NT owns a lot of the Lake District -- in fact, it began there with the support of, among others, Beatrix Potter (whose house at Hilltop is now NT property). The National Trust has links with Heritage Canada and has a US branch called, I believe, the Royal Oak Foundation (or something similar -- an oak leaf is the NT symbol).
