I was under the impression that tax relief was only available if the receiver of the donation was a charity.

My original thought (and the reason I asked the question) was because of the recent simplification of the Gift Aid Scheme.

Under the new rules the charity can claim back tax on all donations however large or small. In addition there is no need for a deed of covenant capable of lasting 3 years. The amount of administration required is minimal and the value of the tax reclaimed is well worth having.

Only a thought but perhaps it is something that the trustees should be considering.

What are the arguements against becoming a charity?
