I saw the recovery of Donald Campbell's body from Coniston this week.I wonder what the Swallows & Amazons would have thought of the speed trials at the end of the sixties? They would have been in their forties or early fifties I suppose. Roger would have been fascinated but I can just hear John's voice: 'Just fizzboats. Sail is the thing!' I find John the most appalling prig at times. For someone aged only 12 or so, he's a proper little dinosaur. All I can guess is that he's trying to live up to 'daddy'.
