Christina’s book “Captain Flint .....” comments I think that the maps in CC and BS are precise enough to navigate the Broads by. So different from t5he “Lakes” books where the fictional lake is a combination of Windermere (oops, nearly forgot the “r” again) & Coniston.

Likewise Wild Cat (WC?) Island? And the Amazon flowing out of the lake instead of into it. The setting of SW is close to reality, but with minor changes? GN - AR did go sailing round the Hebrides, so the location of GN may be a synthesis like the lake?

Re red-green colour-blindness, I recall reading of a yachtsman who carried pieces of red and green glass on his yacht so that he could distinguish the colour of lights by looking at the light through them (consecutively, not together).
