We live on the shores of the Columbia River where I have never seen a
"diver" but have seen plenty of cormorants. Cormorants are fishing birds
that do most certainly dive for their dinner. "Divers" are common in many
parts of North America and are called Loons. The Divers in Great Northern
appear to be Common Loons. These birds on the Canadian dollar give it it's
nickname, the "Looney."
