Sorry - that was a slightly beligerant subject heading, but a recent trip to the Lakes which saw me pottering around Windermere on a little tender with outboard motor (I'm not even sure Roger would have approved, but it was fun and it's been a long time since I was on the water there - oh for the return of my little Heron or my sleek Scorpion...) but anyway... just north of Rio Bay I happened across a gentleman sailing a BEAUTIFUL standing lugsail dinghy - I forget its name but it looked identical to the Amazon from the S&A film (I'd seen the Mavis that morning - it was a nice little holiday). This encounter completely reignited my desire to have a standing lug or lug sail dinghy of my own. I once had a little lugsail dinghy for a week or a fortnight (I can't remember which) on the Broads which was idyllic. That was much smaller than the Swallow or Amazon and may even have been fibreglass but even one of those would do! Where on earth would one come across such a dinghy in this day and age? I've no interest in racing anymore (other than maybe some match racing round the island, etc.) and so my yearning to be back on the water isn't one which includes racing dinghies, Lazers, or even Wayfarers. I want Swallow/Amazon/Scarab/Wizard/Firefly or failing that, Titmouse. Anyone got any ideas where to look?
