Have to agree with the miscasting of Ronald Fraser as Captain Flint.
This was the uncle who could shoulder massive loads and hoist them
uphill. Couldn't see "little titch" Fraser doing that. While I'm on
the subject: Nancy and Peggy seemed a touch too languid. Sort of
Southern Belle types. Can't imagine Nancy drawling "Shiver mah timbers,
y'all." Susan didn't seem as thoroughly practical as the literary Susan,
but she smiled a lot. But the producers really missed the boat with
Roger. Is it my impreesion only, that he was cast as slightly mentally
deficient? When he was minding Swallow at Rio as the others bought
provisions in the shops, a man came along and chatted to him. Roger
just sat there, gaping at the man. Surely I'm not alone in my
impression. However, Titty more than made up for all this. She was
superb, especially alone on the island. But then she has always been
my favourite. Think she must have been AR's favourite too.
