Duncan, I didn't intend to be pedantic, or rude. The reason for my correction was so that people with little or no knowledge of Coniston shouldn't be discouraged from going there. Coniston Water is a delightful place and, depite the commercialisation of other lakes, remains much as AR must have known it when his father took the family there on summer vactions, right down to the Gondola, that old Captain Hamil? used to let him steer, and in my opimion, makes a much better Houseboat than the Esperance, why else would he use a picture of Gondola for his publishers?
