I notice that in the lake stories, the participants drink water from the lake and becks after boiling it. Is this safe? I live in Wales and it would not be adviseable to do this here because of the sheep flukes and other extremely nasty things in the water.
I know that Derwentwater was polluted by mining at one time although it is clear now. Bearing in mind that we are not only talking about bacteria but also toxins and heavy metals which are not removed by boiling. Does any one know the situation in the 1930's. The Amazons had a water breaker because their family felt that the lake water was not safe.
