Rich juicy plum cake; what is the nearest thing to that these days? I would guess it is black bun, a Scottish New Year delicacy.
Seed cake: can you still get it? There is another reference to seed cake in Bertrams Hotel, by Agatha Christie.
Duck eggs: several years ago they were thought to be dangerous,- salmonella, I assume. Has anyone tried one recently?
