Like earlier correspondents, I believe the "To me Hoodah" to be meaningless infill , to taker the place of sensible words that the orignator of the song could not think of. British folk song is riddled with Fol-de-lols and similar devices. The Black Ball Line operated during the middle of the 19th century, mostly on the highly competitive trans-Atlantic route. They were famous among the travelling public for fast passages, and among seamen for spectacularly harsh treatment of those who made the passages possible. One only shipped with the Black Ball Line while unconcious!
