The David Godine editions of "Peter Duck" and "Big Six" have not changed the terminology. Again, until recently this was more of a discriptive word, as well as derogatory, dependent upon the context. I had not heard of any other word for black people until I was some where in my teens in the '50s living in Oklahoma.
