No, I am not an egg collector, but my wife and I, both RSPB members, are caravanning in the Western Isles this summer. What I wondered is: is the map in Great Northern purely AR's imagination, or like the various localities in the Lakes, is it partly based on truth? I would love to get a "feel" of the area while we are on the Islands. I have guessed that the port where Dick meets the egg collector is Stornoway, but of course, I could be miles out! Does anyone have any ideas?
