I suspect that Roger was more heavily dressed in WH than the other books,
because it was W.
I suspect further that a scan through the pictures in the books would
find some evidence of open-necked shirts - but not much evidence, alas,
because AR knew he was not very good at drawing faces, so he mostly
drew people from behind. The only reasonably clear picture I've found
in a brief glance at a couple of the books is "The Great-Aunt steps
ashore" near the end of PM, in which Dick seems to be wearing an open
neck.
