Perhaps there are no direct references to fireplaces, but if I recall correctly, we are told that Peggy steals the Drawing Room bellows (in Pigeon Post) and Dick finds Captain Flint's scales on the Study mantleshelf (in Picts and Martyrs). This presumably means that those two rooms, at least, definitely had fireplaces?
Beyond that, I'd think that Jock is right in his description of multiple curved flues using single chimney stacks.
