It's a good thing they didn't have ice breakers back in the 1930's!
The icy conditions have promted me to dig out and re-read Winter Holiday again. It really has to count among my favourite books, it is incredibly well crafted. I like the illustration 'Peggy in the cat-ice', just a few deftly sketched lines and the whole theme of the book is captured. Superb!
