I agree with you. Especially now that he has discovered the painting that shows the point very much as AR describes it, although unlike the 20th century 'reality'. Given that AR would have been very likely to have seen the painting on Belle Isle, as we have been told, the influences on 'Beckfoot' spread far more widely than any single place. And given the history of AR's relationships, which we know reasonably well, the Lanehead element seems very probable, as you have described it. In the books, Beckfoot is a centre of warmth and homeliness, and that certainly seems to fit AR's relationship with the Colingwoods and Lanehead, which goes well beyond any kind of physical similarity.
