I'm trying to remember where it was in the Midlands that we came across a similar set up across a canal to enable passers-by on foot to purchase ice creams from a narrow boat yard on the opposite bank. Needless to say we had to try it out, much to the delight of the kids (and myself!). Also needless to say, the yard owner told us across the water that there had been numerous demands from various fun-deprived, health and safety bureaucretins that he remove it. I do hope it's still there.
