James Leasor's "Boarding Party" was published in 1978, and in only a couple of years was filmed as "The Sea Wolves" (and reissued by Corgi in paperback under that title and with the usual pictures of the lead characters on the cover). The movie is a quite decent action/adventure, but I am not sure how close to the book it is.
