Somewhere I have read or was told that the young As became fed up with sailing in circles by the boathouses.
Beetle. She was probably larger than the dinghies, say 15ft. I know nothing of her fate, I suspect that it was Beetle that appears in photos taken in 1924.
I met Tadeus Altounyan once. Being older than the As, he WAS allowed to sail when there were white horses on the lake. He told me that Mavis was a better boat than Swallow in a bit of a blow, the opposite to Swallow and Amazon in SD. I have never mentioned this, as find it rather difficult to believe.
Once, I took Brigit on the lake and because I had some youngsters with me as well, asked her to put on a lifejacket. This she did very reluctantly, saying that they had never warn lifejackets. Taqui sometimes wore a lifejacket on my 'Peel I ferryboat', though. I will send you an email image.
