The above is from "N7" by G.R.N.Minchin, written in 1927 and published in 1930. This "Swallow" is a fifty-four foot Admiralty pinnace, converted into a civilian yacht, so nothing like the Walker's flagship on the Lake in the North. However, the ship's name and the setting, so familiar from WDMTGTS, pre-empt Ransome, and I wondered if this was pure coincidence, or whether AR was aware of the book or knew Minchin personally ?
