Thre's a lot about it - his favourite authors - somewhere if only I could remember. The catalogues of the TARS library is a good guide, as is the list of authors for whom he provided introductions ffor the Mariners Library - including EF KNight, MacMullen, Middleton, MacGregor an others. Yes, and Childers (who didn't, sadly, get an AR intro.
Obviously he liked Robert Louis Stevenson and Defoe.

As for which of his own books was his favourite, I don't think I've ever come across any hint. It would be like saying which of your children was your favourite!
