I came across the following quote in a book unrelated to any Ransome writings.

`Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing -- absolute nothing -- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.'

It is the kind of quote that I would have attributed to Ransome, but this one is from the first chapter of "Wind in the Willows" where the character supposedly speaking these words is the River Rat, as he is taking his new friend, Mole, on his first time ever being in a boat.

The phrase does sound familiar. I am wondering, am I remembering this line in "Wind in the Willows" from my childhood days? Or is this something that has appeared in any writings of Ransome, perhaps a personal letter? Just wondering why I seem to feel this is a Ransome statement. I did a scan for "messing" in the twelve Ransome stories, and there is nothing even similar to the above statement there.
