I have recently purchased a copy of PM which was the 2ND Impression dated January 1944. At the end of the book there is a logo of a resting lion on an open book, the book contains the phrase "BOOK PRODUCTION WAR ECONOMY STANDARD". Underneath the book is the phrase "THIS BOOK IS PRODUCED IN COMPLETE CONFORMITY WITH THE AUTHORISED ECONOMY STANDARDS".
This was common on books produced in the UK during the Second World War. However my copy of WH (9TH Impression dated May 1942) does not have this logo - unless the end page is missing, which it might be.

Does anyone know what the economy standards were? Worse quality paper, less end pages etc?
How long were these standards if force. Many things such as rationing continued well after the war. However my copy of SW (11th Impression dated March 1947)does not have the logo.
