I think this is a first for the old School, but I am going to agree with Miss Eckett. You see, there was a 6th Form TPC meeting last night, and we all voted down such terms as 'moderator' and 'editor' - for Mr E-N to moderate or edit would require intervention in the text of posts, which he doesn't do. We did think of 'Governor', but that is so mid-20th century. 'Eruditer' is good, because it is almost a compression of 'erase' and 'rudeness', which Mr E-N does. And of course he is no doubt keen to maintain 'erudition' as I hope we all are (but not too ostentatiously, otherwise the School Remembrancer gets a bit prickly about it). So I vote for 'Tarboard Eruditer'

However, the term will need the approval of the Staff here at St Tarboard's. The Headmaster is a very knowledgable chap (the boys call him 'Jock') and he is forever correcting our misapprehensions. He likes to do this in front of the whole school, and not 'behind the bike sheds' (as he puts it). Then there's Johnny Nichols who takes Stinks, Physics and Maths, and has a brilliant mind, even if the pupils don't always know what he is on about. Mr. H is the old English master and a real pedant. He left the school last year, but was called back in by Stinks Nichols and has settled down again, banging on about the usual rubbish.

The School is co-educational, having some very welcome girl pupils, and also a visiting teacher, Miss Wotton, from the Chalet School next door, and the boys have just about learnt not to wolf-whistle. The School Librarian and Remembrancer is Mr Kiser, who knows everything. I thank him for proving that I was right when I said that Nancy had said 'good and proper' but in a different context from the one I suggested, so I was wrong there. This exactitude is what St. T's is all about, and new pupils are urged to get used to it. The School Eruditer is Ian E-N, and he will be visiting us before Easter and hopefully will give us the usual half-holiday, provided there haven't been any kerfuffles in the Staff Room. Will all those 'mature students' who have adopted children, great grandchildren etc, please supply pictures for the School Notice Board. Thank you.
