Hi, I'm Carla, I joined this board yesterday after a little lurking. My dad bought me the entire Swallows and Amazons series in 1995, closely followed by Coots in the North, and I was hooked on them as a child, reading them over and over again, and nagging my parents to teach me to sail. (They didn't because they didn't know how to sail themselves, although we did have a little 14 foot motor boat for many years!)

They have survived the purge on childhood books and other stuff several times, and when I started work in London a few weeks ago (work placement for a year - I'm a university student really) I decided to re-read them.

Having finished them and become just as hooked this time around, I've started to look for other sources of AR information, and have ordered some of the surrounding literature. I went to the Lake District with my other half last year, and didn't make the most of being in S. and A. country, so I'm trying to persuade him into another trip so I can take more photos!

Right, now I've bored you all senseless... I'm 20 and live in Berkshire, and I'm really looking forward to "meeting" you all, as presumably you don't think I'm crazy for loving Swallows and Amazons!
