I've been away for a while. And returned to see such abuse about Christmas. Dear me. To quote a post - 'moderate your language'(I don't know how to make this italic)

'Christmas" is a muddled mish mash of various vaguely symbolic mythic flummery patched onto a pre-existing mid winter festival. It was imported into this country as part of a franchised cult and has been dressed up since with a wide variety of borrowed gimcrackery.'

Cor! Such bitterness. One wonders why? As a Brief Therapist I would like to help. If I posted something like that about another subject, hopefully broadly associated with AR which this post is not, some master somewhere would strike me from the list. Which assumes that s/he has any right to censor me. Which as an egalitarian I cannot accept. The quote above seems abusive to me.

If someone dislikes and disapproves of the Christian Celebration of Christmas - then I support that person's right to withdraw themselves from it. But not to abuse it or others who revere it. Yes, Christmas has been abused for commercial reasons - and many of us dislike that intensely. S/he is entitled to her / his view. As am I. This is really inappropriate. Why didn't the master of our so-happy group of innocent enthusiasts wipe that post out on sight? Hello???

Joe
