Many thanks, Jock, for that far more expert approach. However, I can perhaps out-Nancy you on the law front. You talk of copyright issues, and say that 'your lawyer should be able to win the case'. Believe me, if you have to engage a lawyer, you've lost the case anyway, financially speaking. You would be unlikely to be awarded your full costs and there will time and expenditure which will be irrecoverable anyhow.

But cheer up - there is no need to worry about lawyers - you don't need them. If the copyright owner of an image threatens to sue you, you simply remove the image immediately - and here one advantage of my indirect method of linking is that I can break the link immediately at my end without having to request Ian to remove the posting. That means that the copyright owner is then reduced to claiming 'damages' from you. It is extremely unlikely that the owner will be able to prove that they have suffered any financial loss as a result of your reposting the image in the short time it was posted. Therefore they have, in effect, no further case. If you accompany your posting removal with an apology, then you will most likely hear nothing further. One thing you do not need is a lawyer costing a great deal more than 6s 8d . . .

Having said which, I think I'll play safe and de-link the 'helmet' - John L wants it anyway . . .
