Hullo skippers, this is my first mail to Tarboard from Japan.
Recently, I bought a new volume of SD published by Jonathan Cape in 2006.
Postscript is printed in p454 of this volume of SD, as follows.
"Postscript
We have often been asked which year we climbed Kanchenjunga. It was, of course, 1930, the second year of the Alliance, the year after Uncle Jim's book was published, and thirty years after mother climbed the Matterhorn. But, by mistake, Mr. Ransome wrote 1931, which was the year he wrote it all down, and that got everything else wrong. So now you know.@N.B."
In this volume, well known author's note dated May 19th, 1958 is deleted. And words of dedication To Elizabeth Abercrombie is added.
In the public library, I found two volumes of SD which were published by Jonathan Cape in 1990 and 1998. There is no such postscript in those volumes of SD.
Perhaps you know well. Please let me know who made that postscript on behalf of N.B.
